"Love & Affection EP" Review by David Ricks
The Green
"Love & Affection EP"
With the New Release of “Love & Affection EP”, The Green definitely does not disappoint. The group’s new full length album, “Ways and Means” is set to debut Oct 25 and surely this new 5 song EP is going to have listeners chomping at the bit for even more rootsie vibes from the five person group out of the 808.
The new EP kicks off with “Love & Affection”. An amazing display of the versatility of this group, the first track has a taste of dancehall type rhythm mixed with pristine vocals offered up by Caleb Keolanui. Definitely a great way to kick start the EP with a foot tapping, skankin good track!
“Got Me In Love” again features the trademark roots style sound The Green provides fans with. Swaying with the smooth bass lines of BW (Brad Watanabe) and old school keys from Ikaika Antone, this track will have the listener thinking of that special companion and wanting to move with the vibes laid down by my boys, The Green.
The new EP provides fans with three more great, irie sounding tracks, “She Was the Best”, “Travlah” and a bonus track, “Travlah Dub”. The last three tracks all offer their own unique vibe. With my personal favorite being, “Travlah”, this rhythmic jam offers the creative vocals of Zion Thompson. The EP finishes off the listener with “Travlah Dub”, a great example of this bands creative, rootsie, pop reggae sound. Plus, every album needs a good Dub song.
