Standing out in Ventura, Cali ain’t easy. When the likes of Dane Reynolds, the Malloys, Bobby Martinez, and Timmy Curran frequent the same waters, getting lost in the crowd is understandable. However, young Kai Ellison has been able to establish himself amongst the V-Town greats with his smooth style and explosive surfing.
His backyard is a 100 yard, screaming right, which he uses as a training ground to perfect his backhand attack. Under the tutelage of Sean “Purple” Hayes and with a sparring partner in Dane Reynolds, Kai has upped his game massively, in and out of the water.
After a great amateur career, Kai has redirected his focus into ‘Searching’ for perfect waves, which has made him a great advocate for Rip Curl. His travels have led him all over the globe to the likes of Indo, South Africa, Tahiti, Hawaii, and Mexico.
Kai is a player with a passport that will undoubtedly be heard from for a long time to come...
