With his drive to constantly push progressive surfing to new heights and comfort in heaving slabs, it comes as no surprise that Gold Coast native Josh Kerr is back among the elite ranks in 2011. Although Kerr is one of the most innovative surfing minds on the planet, the explosive natural-footer has struggled to find his feet on the ASP World Tour after qualifying two times (2007 and 2009).

In a year that would introduce only a few new faces to the elite ranks, Kerr managed to qualify by competing in only a few select events, asserting his dominance on the ASP World Ranking with impressive victories at the ASP PRIME Drug Aware Pro and the 6-Star O’Neill Cold Water Classic Canada before making the final at the ASP PRIME O’Neill World Cup to solidify his position on the elite stage for the third time in his career.

If Kerr can carry his hot streak from 2010 to this season, he’ll be a lethal competitor on this year’s roster.
