Brazilian Adriano de Souza grabbed the attention of the surfing world as a youth by winning the prestigious ASP World Junior Championships at just 16 years of age, the youngest surfer ever to do so. ‘Mineirinho’ quickly followed as the youngest surfer to win the ASP WQS, qualifying for the ASP World Tour while entering the elite ranks as South America’s World Title hopeful.
The fiery Brazilian initially struggled to transition onto the ASP World Tour stage after his early accomplishments, finishing 20th and 28th in his first two years, but the Brazilian reinvented himself in 2008 and clawed his way up the ratings to finish ASP World No. 5 and has maintained his Top 10 status since.
